Phoenix Forward Hits The Road For Cancer Charity

Manchester Phoenix forward Adam Walker has been hard at work in preparation for the new ice hockey season and his training will be put to the test as he prepares to cycle 300 miles in just four days in aid of the Macmillan Cancer charity.

Walker, now approaching his fourth season with the Phoenix will take on the challenge in August where he will start in London and hopefully finish the task in Paris, Adam commented,

“My Grandad suffered with and eventually died from cancer and the people at Macmillans were unbelievably good to him. The care and support they offer is second to none and I want to try and give something back to them. I’m passionate about this and if I can help by raising some money, then the effort will be well worth while.”

Adam will leave Blackheath, London on August 19th and the race will come to a close under the Eiffel Tower on August 22nd. The four stages of the bike ride will take him through to Dover, onto Calais, then through Arras and finally Compiegne before the concluding 56 miles to Paris.

In an effort to raise as much funds as possible, Adam has created a special web page so that anyone wishing to sponsor him for his efforts can do at :-

    www.justgiving.com/adamwalker29

Adam hopes to raise around £1500 and added, ” Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.”
